The City of Hafnarfjörður and Vodafone have signed a two-year contract for telephone and telecommunications services for the city, covering all product categories, i.e. GSM, fixed-line and data transmission. Through the tendering of the service, the City of Hafnarfjörður is achieving a saving of approximately 25-30 per cent, as the total cost of these contracted services has been around 38-40 million króna per year.
The telephone and telecommunications services for the City of Hafnarfjörður were recently put out to tender. The telecommunications company Vodafone submitted the lowest overall bid, according to the tender list in the tender documents, although it was also permitted to bid for each product category separately. The tender notice was sent to all parties in the telecommunications market that have a framework agreement with Ríkiskaup. The tender is likely to result in savings for the municipality of just over 10 million króna per year. In parallel, the tender is delivering savings within the product categories, which includes, among other things, more robust internet connections for schools and institutions at a lower cost.. „We are continuing with what we at Hafnarfjörður Municipality have been doing for the past few months, a journey that is delivering significant efficiencies for us. We have been systematically tendering the services we purchase. This is necessary, both to keep us on our toes and aware of market developments, and not least to keep the service provider on their toes, ensuring that we receive a 100% service in line with increasing needs and changes in the working environment. We will continue to move in this direction, for the benefit of all: employees, residents and businesses.“ says Haraldur L. Haraldsson at the signing of a contract yesterday.
