The autumn and beautiful winter days have been used, among other things, to prepare for Christmas in the Christmas Town of Hafnarfjörður. Everything is pointing towards Advent being not only bright and beautiful but also extremely lively and fun, and longer than in a normal year. In recent years, the Christmas Town of Hafnarfjörður has firmly stamped itself into the minds and hearts of Hafnarfjörður residents, tourists, and friends of Hafnarfjörður across the country, thanks to the united and excellent efforts of everyone: residents, businesses, and institutions in all the town's neighbourhoods. Everyone has pulled together, put on their Christmas hats and taken a deep breath of the Christmas air. Thousands have visited our Christmas town during Advent and experienced everything our beautiful town has to offer in terms of wellness, culture, art, dining, shopping and services.

Christmas village, fairyland and ice rink
Christmas is steadily making its way to Hafnarfjörður, and now in October, the town's staff have been working on setting up Christmas decorations all over the town. New lights and decorations will continue to be added over the coming days and weeks. The Christmas Magazine of Hafnarfjörður will be published in mid-November and, as in the last three years, will be full of warm-hearted content about the town's rewarding and good projects, progressive Icelandic companies, and the people who make up the town. Heart swelling opens 10 November, The Christmas Village at Thorsplan with all its beautifully decorated Christmas houses and Christmas cheer, opens on Friday, 18th November, and the Christmas adventure in Hellisgerði is also in full preparation.

An appeal to the town's residents and businesses
The days are starting to get shorter and it's time for the Christmas lights. The City of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents to put up their Christmas lights as soon as possible, if they haven't already done so. Council staff are working steadily through the town, installing lights in busy locations and open spaces. All of this is done with the aim of delighting the eye and the spirit, and promoting a positive experience and enjoyment for those who pass through the town, whether on foot, running, cycling or driving.

Take an active part in dressing the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður in its festive best by putting up your Christmas lights early this year. Even as soon as today.
