ICT Teaching Advisor – Hraunvallar School

Hraunvallaskóli is seeking to appoint an ICT teaching consultant. The position is 50% (TP3T), but there is an opportunity to increase the contract by teaching at the school.
The Council is in office from 1 August 2026.
Hraunvallar School is unique in that both a nursery and a primary school are run within its walls. The school operates according to the philosophy of the open school, and the building was designed with this in mind. The curriculum places an emphasis on a structure based on group work, thematic learning, individual work, problem-solving, critical thinking, and students' ability to acquire knowledge and use the latest information and communication technology to do so. Teachers work together in teams during lessons and in the planning and preparation of teaching. Pupils in the same year group are in common tutor groups with a shared form tutor in their home areas.

Key responsibilities and duties:
- Overseeing the school's tablets in consultation with the council's IT department.
- Provides staff with teaching advice in their area of expertise: information technology, with a focus on the use of tablets (iPad).
- Assists in the preparation of lesson plans and participates in the development of the school curriculum relating to information technology.
- Monitors the school's strategic direction in the use of information technology in school activities, in collaboration with the Development and IT Department of the City of Hafnarfjörður and the Office of the Education and Public Health Department.
- Manages the school's tablets for use in teaching and assists students with their use.
- The Development and IT Department is available to assist with the resolution of technical problems that may arise within the school. A liaison with the Development and IT Department is available to assist with the resolution of technical problems that may arise within the school.
- Advises school leaders on information and communication technology in primary school work.
- Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee and which are related to their area of responsibility.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Teacher's licence
- Further education in project management and/or information technology is desirable.
- Extensive teaching experience in primary school
- Experience in project management is desirable.
- Experience in teaching advisory is desirable
- Good knowledge of Icelandic, C1 language standard ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
A clean criminal record is a condition.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Icelandic Teachers' Association.
