Singing Festival in Hafnarborg 2026 – Programme
The Hafnarborg Song Festival will be held for the tenth time from 13 to 28 June 2026. The festival is dedicated to classical music, poetry, opera and…
On National Day, 17 June, 12-14, Hafnarborg and GETA are inviting everyone to the museum to make their own national day flags. Materials will be provided on site to make your own Icelandic flag from white, blue and red paper, but colours will also be available for those who want to let their imagination run wild and design their own flag or even create other national flags. The workshop will be run in Icelandic, English and Spanish.
The workshop is supervised by the Mexican artist Hugo Llanes who has been resident in Iceland for the past eight years. Hugo holds an MA in Fine Art from the Iceland Academy of the Arts but is currently studying Icelandic as a second language at the University of Iceland.
In my opinion is a series of events that aims to increase access to Hafnarborg for people from diverse backgrounds by welcoming visitors in different languages. The event is a collaboration between Hafnarborg and the organisation GETU, which, through a diverse range of events and social activities, seeks to promote inclusion and positive multiculturalism. The project is supported by the museum fund.
Free admission – all are welcome.
The museum's exhibitions will also be open as usual, from 12-17: Big world by Helga Þorgils Friðjónsson and May show signs of minor defects by Svein Fannar Jóhannsson. In addition, Annríki will hold a special national costume show in the Pharmacy on the ground floor of the museum, as has become a tradition at the museum in recent years. In connection with Annríki's show, we would also like to point out that a national costume photoshoot will take place at Hafnarborg at 3 p.m.
