The town's museums are open but events are postponed.

The museums of Hafnarfjörður, the Library, the Folk Museum and Hafnarborg will maintain their normal opening hours despite the gathering ban, but scheduled events, such as guided tours, art workshops and seminars, will be cancelled or postponed while the ban is in effect. In the museums, visitors will have the opportunity to maintain a safe distance from one another.

Museums of Hafnarfjörður, Hafnarfjörður Library, Museum of Local History and Port city We are maintaining our usual opening hours despite the lockdown, but all scheduled events, such as tours and art workshops, have been cancelled or postponed for the duration of the lockdown. At Hafnarborg, current exhibitions have been extended. As before, every effort will be made to welcome all visitors, whilst also ensuring that their numbers do not exceed the set limits. Visitors will be able to maintain a safe distance from one another, and admission is free, as always. 

Emphasis on increased cleaning

The emphasis on increased cleaning in the town's museums, beyond the usual cleaning, will continue. Touchpoints are cleaned at least twice a day, such as handrails, payment terminals, touchscreens and door handles. In addition, book covers, toys and other items that have been handled are cleaned separately. In addition, an emphasis is placed on ensuring good access to hand sanitiser for visitors and staff.

Still aiming for Bright Days in April 

No town-run festival is scheduled in the next four weeks, and it is still expected that the Bjartir dagar arts festival will bring sunshine, summer warmth and joy to the hearts of residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður, as the festival begins on the last day of winter each year.
