The singing trio „Á léttum nótum“, Helga Guðný Hallsdóttir, Breki Sigurðarson and Laufey Ósk Jóns, have been singing widely around Hafnarfjörður this summer as part of the Creative Summer Jobs programme. The members of the group met in their first year in the choir at Menntaskólinn við Hamrahlíð and have been inseparable ever since. The group specialises in choral music, and their aim is to perform, promote and educate people about choral music, as well as to entertain residents and visitors throughout the summer. Their repertoire includes classics such as; Nú andar suðrið, Ó, blessuð vertu sumarsól, Hver á sér fegra föðurland and Vikivaki.

A wide range of interests

The trio shares an interest in choral singing, as well as having their own varied interests. Helga Helga (alto) is a cellist with a keen interest in the performing arts, Breki (tenor) is an illustrator, tuba player and composer, and Laufey (soprano) is studying psychology at the University of Iceland, as well as attending the Reykjavík School of Singing, with the aim of studying choral conducting.

Creative summer jobs are part of the Hafnarfjörður Summer Job Scheme – nine projects for summer 2021.

Creative summer jobs with the City of Hafnarfjörður are part of the summer programme for the Hafnarfjörður Work School. Creative summer jobs are advertised separately, and individuals and groups are invited to submit ideas for creative projects with their application. These projects are designed to bring even more life to the town over the summer, making it more fun, beautiful and diverse through artistic and creative events. Particular attention is paid to the diversity of projects and to ensuring they appeal to different age groups and interests. The selected groups will then have the opportunity to liven up the social life and entertainment in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, delighting tourists and residents with all sorts of initiatives. This is one of these projects, undertaken on a lighter note. Eight other creative projects are being run by the Hafnarfjörður Work School this year, and these will also be featured on the council's media channels.
