Applications are now open for the Christmas Village at Thorsplan in Hafnarfjörður 2026. The Christmas Village is looking to partner with individuals, organisations and businesses offering quality products and a diverse range of goods with a clear connection to the nation's Christmas traditions.

Applications open for the 2026 Christmas Village 

Hafnarfjörður is looking for the perfect mix of vendors for the 2026 Christmas Village at Thorsplani. Applications are now open.

Consideration will be given to the availability of the vendors. One to six weekends are available, depending on the overall appearance of the village and the demand for the goods. The Christmas Village is looking to partner with individuals, organisations and businesses selling quality products, a diverse range of merchandise with a clear connection to the nation's Christmas traditions.

  • Particular attention is paid to several factors when selecting vendors for the Christmas Village. First and foremost, they must offer quality products, whether food, drink or experiences, and the connection to Christmas must be clear.
  • The variety of the village and the overall experience are taken into account when selecting vendors. A visit to the Christmas Village should be an essential tradition, to taste and smell the Christmas season. 

 

Competition for stalls 

There has been a good turnout at the sales stalls in the Christmas Village in recent years. This year, the village opens on Friday. ThirteenIt will be open throughout Advent on Fridays from 5 pm to 8 pm, Saturdays from 1 pm to 8 pm and Sundays from 1 pm to 6 pm. It will be open on Christmas Eve from 1 pm to 9 pm. 

In the Christmas Village, there will be around twenty decorated chalets, each measuring 5.8 m². The hire fee for a retail chalet is kr. 26,900 for the weekend. The central building in Thorsplan is larger and will be allocated to the same party for the entire period; the rental fee is 53,800 kr for the weekend. The rental fee includes all costs for setup, operation of the building, and cleaning of the area. In addition, the City of Hafnarfjörður will promote the Christmas Village in various ways to attract visitors. 

With regard to goods for sale, sellers must comply with any applicable laws and regulations. If a product or product category is subject to any conditions or restrictions.

 

Application deadline: 1 October 2026

Applicants need to submit an application for a house in the Christmas Village, and applications are open until 1 October 2026, after which new applications will be placed on a waiting list. Enquiries can be sent to jolathorp@hafnarfjordur.is
