In recent years, a tradition has developed for the Mayor of Hafnarfjörður to host a banquet in Hásölum in honour of those residents who have turned seventy and will do so during the year. This year, the party was held on Thursday, 3 November, and was attended by around 100 smartly dressed and cheerful Hafnfirðingar born in 1952. In recent years, the town's services have been developing towards a more preventative and diverse range of health-promoting services, aimed at promoting the well-being and health of older people in Hafnarfjörður.
A fun tradition in honour of 70-year-old residents of Hafnarfjörður
In recent years, a tradition has developed for the Mayor of Hafnarfjörður to host a banquet in Hásölum in honour of those residents who have turned seventy and will do so during the year. This year, the party was held on Thursday, 3 November, and was attended by around 100 smartly dressed and cheerful Hafnarfjörður residents born in 1952. This is the eighth such celebration since the decision was made to hold a joint party for all those turning seventy.
A diverse and proactive health promotion service
In recent years, the town's services have been purposefully developing towards a more preventative and diverse range of health-promoting services. These are aimed at promoting the well-being and health of older residents in Hafnarfjörður, enabling them to take an active part in society and live independently. for as long as possible. At the celebration, the city's diverse services were presented to the birthday group, who were also introduced to the stimulating and enjoyable social activities offered by the Association of Older Citizens in Hafnarfjörður. The Mayor, the Chair of the Town Council, town councillors and town staff celebrated the milestone with the group, many of whom are lifelong friends, companions from their youth and/or members of various social groups within the town. The group listened to beautiful music performed by the Hafnarfjörður Music School, as well as receiving an introduction to QiGong and hearing extracts from the events of the year of their birth, 1952.
