Love and warmth all year round
The meditation and Christmas walk began at the premises of the Bereavement Centre in the St. Jó Centre for Wellbeing, where the centre has made itself very cosy and beautifully settled. Gísli Álfgeirsson, a board member of the Bereavement Centre, gave a short reflection on special days and holidays before setting off on a walk through the centre of Hafnarfjörður to Hellisgerði. In Hellisgerði, the Mayor, Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, gave a beautiful speech, the choir Hljómfélagið performed wonderfully and sweetly, and the formal programme concluded with the lighting of the lights on the Tree of Remembrance. Hot chocolate, gingerbread biscuits and a cosy time were on offer. A large number of people took part in the event and enjoyed feeling the love and warmth in the run-up to Christmas ❤️
None of us gets through life without experiencing grief.
The Bereavement Centre provides education and advice to bereaved people and those who work with the bereaved. Bereavement support aims to improve public health by promoting and supporting people's mental, physical and social well-being following the loss of a loved one. The Bereavement Centre is a collaborative project between grassroots organisations in the field of bereavement support: Ný dögun, Ljónshjarta and Gleym mér ei, with the aim of providing a comprehensive, one-stop resource and thereby offering an even better service to bereaved people in Iceland.
