Well done, Smáralundur!
The Lifshlaupið has become a workplace culture in many of the places that excel year after year, and workplaces are keen to create their own in-house traditions around the Lifshlaupið. The health-promoting Smáralundur nursery is no exception, and its staff are known for their renowned competitive spirit and ambition, which is well reflected in the school's daily activities. Staff turnover at the nursery is low, staff satisfaction is high, and it is clear that life inside the nursery fence is considered healthy and rather pleasant. In mid-2022, the City of Hafnarfjörður announced its active participation in the 'Health-Promoting Workplace' project by the Office of the National Public Health Inspector, and health promotion is now part of the city's overall strategy. The aim is, among other things, improved health, increased well-being and job satisfaction, increased productivity, fewer absences and sick days, and increased creativity and innovation, to name but a few. Increased encouragement for staff participation within the City of Hafnarfjörður's workplaces in the Life Course is one of the many steps in the municipality's health-promoting journey. Hafnarfjörður has been a health-promoting community since 2015. Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir presented the staff at Smáralund with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a gift voucher, offering her heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the City of Hafnarfjörður.
