Works completed in Seltún, Krýsuvík
Work on a new footbridge in Seltún, Grindavík, was completed this week and the area has been reopened to visitors. To celebrate the opening, DJ Leon S Kemp of Nordic Voyage Rec will be playing electronic music on the footbridge on Saturday, 10 June, between 12 pm and 1 pm.
Work on a new footbridge at Seltún in Krýsuvík was completed this week, and the area has been reopened to visitors. At its peak last summer, over 1,100 people visited Seltún daily, according to The Tourist Board's count of the number of tourists at tourist sites across the country.
The project was carried out with a grant from the Visitor Site Infrastructure Fund for the continued development of the area, which is considered a priority for safety and nature conservation reasons. Alongside the construction of the footbridge, gravel was laid on the area's paths.
Electronic music event in Seltún
To celebrate the opening of the area, DJ Leon S Kemp of Nordic Voyage Rec will be playing electronic music on the promenade on Saturday, 10 June, from 12-1 pm. The event is part of the Björtir Dagar cultural festival which takes place in Hafnarfjörður in June. With the event in the natural gem of Seltún, the concert's production team aims to combine Icelandic nature and landscape with electronic music. The concert is part of a concert series called Minimal in Iceland But they will be recorded, and video footage of the musical performance from a drone and cameras on the ground will be published later.

Krysuvík is one of Iceland's most beautiful natural gems, and the diverse array of colours in the nature of the Seltún geothermal area captivates many. The maintenance of paths and the development of walking trails at this popular tourist destination is a priority for the City of Hafnarfjörður in a newly published Destination plan for the capital region However, there are plans for further development of the facilities in the area in the coming years.
