An ideal family game in the health-promoting town of Hafnarfjörður
The Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt is now underway for the 26th time. The aim of this popular scavenger hunt is to lead participants far and wide across the Hafnarfjörður hinterland to enjoy the great outdoors and nature. The great thing about the geocache is that it is suitable for all ages and is an ideal family activity. The Hafnarfjörður Geocache runs from June to September each year, and this year until 26 September. There are 27 markers placed far and wide across the Hafnarfjörður hinterland and even into neighbouring municipalities.
Fun facts about each sign
For each geocache site, there are facts on the map and even more detailed information on the game's website, where you can also see a picture of the site, which is also shown on a map. Participants receive a free, high-quality geocaching map and search for 27 geocache markers. Some of the markers are short of the town and others a little further away. The game is laid out by Guðni Gíslason, but it is Hönnunarhúsið ehf. that publishes the game in collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður. As before, Ómar Smári Ármannsson assisted with the selection of the scavenger hunt locations and wrote the trivia facts, as he is the most familiar with the Reykjanes Peninsula and runs the information website. ferlir.is. The orienteering maps can be obtained, among other places, from Hafnarfjörður Library, Hafnarfjörður Town Hall, Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug, Hafnarfjörður Swimming Pool, Ásvellir, N1 Lækjargata and Fjarðarkaup.
All further information is available on the scavenger hunt's website.
