Huliðsvættir is a series of site-specific video installations, created as part of a creative summer job, which is based on a map of Hafnarfjörður by the seer Erla Stefánsdóttir, where she locates elves, dwarves and hidden folk, along with the town's energy centres.

In the void between the world of humans and nature, beings dwell, who reveal themselves to humankind only in the right place at the right time.

Huldufólk is a series of site-specific video installations, created as part of a creative summer job, which is based on a map of Hafnarfjörður by the seer Erla Stefánsdóttir, where she locates elves, dwarves and hidden folk, along with the town's energy centres. I made video works at selected locations marked on the map, and placed a QR code nearby, which people can scan on a smart device to watch the video in its environment, where it was filmed and where the hidden beings reside. The premiere will be on 10 August at 18:00, alongside the opening of Memories by Vilborg Lóu Jónsdóttir, which will be in the form of a walking tour of the town, with their guidance.

Hidden wights live in the void between the world of humans and nature, and only appear to the naked eye at certain times in certain places.

Huliðsvættir (e. hidden wights) is a site-specific series of video works, in collaboration with the creative summer jobs of Hafnarfjörður, which are based on a map created by the medium Erla Stefánsdóttir, where she maps out where elves, dwarves, and various spiritual locations live in the town. I made video works in selected places from the map, and placed QR codes nearby, which people can scan into their smart devices, and watch the videos in the environment in which the videos were shot, and where the hidden wights reside. The premiere will be on the 10th of August at 18:00, coinciding with the opening of Vilborg Lóa Jónsdóttir's Memories, which will take the form of a guided tour around the town.

About Creative Summer Jobs 2023

In the summer of 2021, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with the town's youth centre, Hamarinn, decided to revive the “Creative Summer Jobs” project, which had been run in the summer of 2017. Individuals and groups aged 18-23 were also invited to submit ideas for creative projects in Hafnarfjörður. Selected groups were given the opportunity to work on various creative projects in different artistic fields that would also liven up the town's social life, delighting tourists and residents in one way or another. The staff of Creative Summer Jobs, run as part of the Hafnarfjörður Summer School, are tasked with bringing the town to life, making it more fun, beautiful and diverse with artistic and creative events. The projects are varied and appeal to different age groups and interests. Klara Ósk Elíasdóttir is the project manager for Creative Summer Jobs.

This year, there are nine diverse groups and individuals working as part of the creative summer jobs scheme, and they will be featured weekly over the summer.
