The Framför Reading Society is the oldest reading society in the country and meets monthly at Hafnarfjörður Library, led by the literary scholar Hjalti Snæ Ægisson.

 

The theme for the winter is Icelandic neo-realism, and we begin with the book by Vésteinn Lúðvíksson, Gunnar and Kjartan, written between 1971 and 1972, offers an insight into the education system and culture of the class-divided society of Reykjavík in the 1960s.

 

Vésteinn Lúðvíksson struck a new note in Icelandic literature with his storytelling about and after 1970.
