Come for a walk!

Harpa Gústavsdóttir is leading a love walk for children at Hvaleyrarvatn. Harpa received a cultural grant in autumn 2023 for the project 'Igniting Love', which was a light walk up Helgafell that ended with lighting a two-metre-high heart-shaped light at the summit. This summer, she is leading a similar event for children, where summer and love are the focus. We'll start by having a little chat about love and what it means to us, before we head out into nature to pick flowers – each flower will represent someone we love. Once everyone has picked their bouquet, we head down to the beach where heart-shaped frames will have been set up for the children to attach their flowers to. This will create heart-shaped sculptures. The event takes approximately two hours. The walk will start from the car park on the west side of Hvaleyrarvatn (near Völlum).

Cultural and Health Walks 2024

This summer, guided town walks are offered every Wednesday. The walks are a collaboration between the Hafnarfjörður Library, the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum, Hafnarborg and the Healthy Town of Hafnarfjörður. Most walks take about an hour.
