The heart of Hafnarfjörður has never been bigger than this year.
Over 40,000 visitors attended the Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar town and music festival, which ran for six weeks from late June to August. Around two hundred artists performed at the festival, ranging from troubadours to the country's most popular bands.
Hafnarfjörður's heart beat like never before!
The town centre has now regained its former look and the tents for Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar have been taken down. More than 40,000 visitors attended the Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar town and music festival, which ran for six weeks from the end of June to August.
Around two hundred artists performed at the festival, ranging from troubadours to the country's most popular bands. The festival has grown and thrived over the eight years it has been held. In its first year, 2017, 1,500 guests attended.
The music resonated from the heart
Páll Eyjólfsson at Bæjarbíó says there were quite a few new features at this year's festival, such as a so-called „Happiness Hour“ in the outdoor marquee, where pub quizzes, party bingo and troubadours took place. "A project of this size simply couldn't happen without key people in the area," says Páll in a news post on the Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar Facebook page.
„Joy and courtesy,“ he tells the Hafnarfjörður town website. „We are grateful for all the people who took the time to come to us during the six weeks the festival was held.“

The fourth heartstone is laid
Joy certainly played a big part in the celebration. Then the fourth heartstone was unveiled. Magnús Kjartansson now has his own stone in front of the Bæjarbíó, just like Laddi, Guðrún Helgadóttir and Björgvin Halldórsson.
Yes, the Heart of Hafnarfjörður certainly grew this summer.
