Spring Clean-up 8th-11th May – skips for garden waste at the primary schools

Dagana 8. – 11. maí 2025 standa yfir hreinsunardagar í Hafnarfirði undir yfirskriftinni HREINSUM HAFNARFJÖRÐ. Þá geta íbúar í Hafnarfirði losað sig við garðúrgang í gám innan allra hverfa við hvern og einn grunnskóla.

Gámarnir verða við skólana frá morgni fimmtudagsins 8. maí til kl. 17 sunnudaginn 11. maí. Íbúar í Hafnarfirði eru hvattir til að nýta sér þjónustuna eða koma pokunum beint á Sorpu. Please note that Sorpa accepts garden waste free of charge.

Residents are encouraged to use recycled packaging or reusable bags when cleaning. Please note that garden waste must not be put in bags in the bin; instead, the contents of the bags should be emptied directly into the bin.. It is also advisable, where possible, to collect garden waste in a compost heap in a convenient place in the garden and use it for composting.

Residents in all neighbourhoods of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to take an active part in the clean-up, and it is ideal to get to work in the garden, prune bushes and flowerbeds in the run-up to and during the clean-up days.

In light of recent events, special attention is drawn to the fact that landowners are required to keep the growth of trees and shrubs on their land within the property boundaries. Tree growth can cause inconvenience and even danger to pedestrians and motorists. Plot owners are also advised that specific regulations apply to the construction of a boundary wall and fence on the plot, which it is important to familiarise themselves with.
