A new chapter begins – The opening ceremony of the Hafnarfjörður Library

News

The opening ceremony of the new library in Firði will be held on Thursday, 13th August between 4 pm and 6 pm. You can get a head start on the fun, as the library first opened its doors this morning.

Our new library in Firði

People flocked to the new library in Hafnarfjörður this morning as it opened its new premises for the first time. On Thursday, 13th August, the formal opening of our new library in Firði will take place – just three months after the town received the keys to the premises. All the books are on the shelves. The library is magnificent.

The new library building is almost 1,700 square metres in size. Of this, around 550 square metres are in the new Fjörður building at 26-30 Strandgata. The alterations and the development at Fjörður are the largest project to have taken place in the centre of Hafnarfjörður for decades.

The new library of Hafnarfjörður is a modern community centre for the people of Hafnarfjörður. And what can we find in the new library?

  • Air space
  • Recording studio
  • Podcasting studio
  • Meeting room
  • Group room
  • Assembly hall
  • Children's corner
  • Learning space

And what we find first and foremost is a good atmosphere, good people who greet us and help us in this new magical world of ours, which is surrounded by books.
