About Christmas trees and firework rubbish
For your information, the City of Hafnarfjörður would like to draw your attention to the fact that the city's staff do not collect Christmas trees from residents after the Christmas period. Firework rubbish must not be put in household bins but must be taken to recycling centres.

The City of Hafnarfjörður would like to draw attention to the fact that its staff do not collect Christmas trees from residents after the Christmas period. It is noted that sports clubs and voluntary organisations are now offering a service to collect Christmas trees from residents' doorsteps on a specified day for a fee as part of their fundraising.
- The Haukar basketball department will be delivering the Christmas tree to your door in Hafnarfjörður after 6 p.m. on Friday, 6th January 2024.. The Haukar basketball club is offering residents of Hafnarfjörður the chance to have their Christmas tree collected from their doorstep after the holidays and have it recycled in collaboration with Terra. To register, you must book and pay for the service on körfubolti.is by midnight on 5 January. The tree is placed at the boundary of the property or in the garden at around 6 p.m. on 6 January, and Haukar will collect it later that evening. Fireworks
After the New Year, firework displays are often prominent in the town. Town residents are urged to Take this rubbish to recycling centres. but they must not go in the bins. The same applies to unspent fireworks; they are to go in the hazardous waste bin at Sorpu.
