The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved at its meeting this morning to grant a subsidy of 1,000,000 króna to the 'Friendship in Action' project. The project and collection were initiated in response to a tidal wave that struck the Greenlandic village of Nuugattsiaq in the early hours of Sunday, 18 June, resulting in four deaths and the destruction of eleven houses, including the village's power supply, shop and primary school.

The City Council of Hafnarfjörður approved at its meeting today to proceed with the existing purchase agreement for the St. Joseph's Hospital premises, thereby finalising the purchase of the property.
