Closure between Skogarás and Vörðuás

A review has taken place regarding the closure between Skógarás and Brekkuás in Hafnarfjörður. At a meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Environmental and Executive Council on 15 May, it was decided to reopen the driving route between the streets and instead temporarily close the road between Vörðuás and Skógarás for one year, due to construction work in Ásland 4. The closure will be reviewed in a year's time. The closure will take place in the coming days, and signs will be put up as a reminder.

At a meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Environmental and Executive Council, it was agreed to close the connection between Vörðuás and Skógarás again while the disruption from construction work at Vörðuás is at its greatest. After the closure, residents of Skógarás will use Brekkuás as before. The closure is expected to remain in place for one year, at which point it will be reviewed. In the approved Asland 4 plan, Skógarás is part of that neighbourhood and will subsequently be connected to its road network.

A natural gem on the southern slopes of Ásfjall

Ásland 4 is the newest development area in Hafnarfjörður, a residential district that follows on from the neighbouring areas of Ásland 3 and new housing estates in Skarðshlíð and Hamranes.  The area is defined by the Ásfjall with Mógrafarhæð, which penetrates the area from the north, the residential development of Ásland 3 to the north-east, Ásvallabraut to the east and south, and new residential development in Skarðshlíð and Hamranes to the west.
