Verkherinn is a work-related summer programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity. Young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity aged 16 to 20 can apply to Verkherinn.
Employment-related summer programme for young people with disabilities
Verkherinn is a work-related summer programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity. Most go out onto the general labour market at some point in their lives. Verkherinn's summer programme is good preparation for the future and gives young people the opportunity to try working in various workplaces and take part in a fun course. A variety of educational sessions and team-building activities are also held. Verkherinn is based at Húsið, at 14 Suðurgata, 220 Hafnarfjörður.
Who can apply for a job at Verkhernum?
Young people with disabilities or reduced functional ability, aged 16–20, can apply to Verkhernum. Work takes place in the mornings on all weekdays, and in the afternoons, young people are offered the opportunity to take part in social or leisure activities.
What is done in the Workshop?
Work is carried out in partnership with local businesses. In recent years, Verkherinn has collaborated with, for example, shops, the Hafnarfjörður Library, nurseries, Krónan, Húsasmiðjan and others. Individualised work is also available, where tasks are tailored to the needs and work capacity of each person.
The Age of the Worker
The workshop runs from 26 May to 3 July, and then again from 4 to 14 August. It is closed for 4 weeks from 6 July to 4 August.
Working hours are from 9 am to 2:20 pm every weekday. We are closed on bank holidays and at weekends.
