Ingvar Viktors BH
Ingvar Viktorsson is a magnificent storyteller and there are indeed countless stories, told by himself and his contemporaries, in the newly published book, ‘I Must Tell You’, which was released just before Christmas, compiled and written by Guðjón Ingi Eiríksson.
Ingvar is one of those fine storytellers who has a keen eye for his fellow human beings and his surroundings, and knows how to do them justice. He has had a varied life; grew up in the sanatorium at Vífilsstaðir, took a taxi to school to complete his compulsory education, applied to the Menntaskólinn in Akureyri for a place for transport reasons and got it, was at sea for many summers, became a teacher in Hafnarfjörður, later became a city councillor there and mayor for the Alþýðuflokkur party, was in the FH first team for many years and also served on the board of the Icelandic Handball Association. And that is to say little. It should be mentioned that the editorial board for this book was appointed before Ingvar knew what was in store. In fact, at first he was reluctant about our idea for the biography and dodged it skilfully. In the end, however, he gave in, and the result is evident in the following pages.
Ingvar will be with us on Tuesday, 28th February at 16:30.
