The teacher is Jóa (Jóhanna Ásgeirsdóttir), who is the artistic director of the List án landamæra festival. She completed a foundation degree in fine art at New York University and a master's degree in art education at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Jóhanna has participated in and curated art exhibitions in Iceland, Berlin and New York. She is a founding member of the art collectives Isle of Games, a collaboration of game designers, and Endurhugsa, an art collective that deals with environmental issues. Her own artistic practice often intertwines with education about science and environmental issues. She has run numerous art workshops in schools, at exhibitions, museums and festivals, both within and outside the capital region. She teaches at the Department of Art Education at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and in children's courses at the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts.

Her final project from LHÍ was titled 'Oravíddir', a mathematics curriculum delivered through artistic methods. From this project, a collaboration with the Design Museum of Iceland has emerged, where she has researched and designed educational material about the work of Einar Þorsteinn Ásgeirsson.
