This summer, individuals and groups at aged 18-25 (born 2001-2008) to come up with ideas for creative projects in Hafnarfjörður. Individuals and groups will have the opportunity to work over the summer on creative projects and present them to residents and visitors during the summer. Creative Summer Jobs, run as part of the Hafnarfjörður Work School and the Innovation Centre, is intended as a springboard for young artists to develop their art, practise working independently and showcase their creations.  

Applicants must be aged between 18 and 25. When selecting projects, consideration will be given to, among other things the feasibility and originality of the project, the budget, the diversity of projects, the gender balance of applicants and the quality of the applications. An agreement on the project's arrangements will be made with the applicants who are selected. Help with writing the application can be obtained from the staff of the Innovation Centre via email. nyskopunarsetur@hafnarfjordur.is. 

 The main tasks and responsibilities are to:

  • Work according to one's own implementation and work plan
  • Staff are active on social media and promoting the project.
  • To be in collaboration and consultation with other participants in the Creative Summer Jobs
  • Keep a work diary and attend all meetings that staff of the Innovation Centre to organisejust
  • Appear at organised events run by the City of Hafnarfjörður, such as the 17th of June and others.
  • Take an active part in the Harvest Days of Creative Summer Jobs in Autumn 20226 or in one way or another, demonstrate the results and outcomes of the project free of charge for the town's residents.

The following information and supporting documents must be sent as attachments with the application:

  • A detailed description of the project, its scope and objectives.
  • Description of an idea for participation on 17th June.

  • If it is A group project is to be discussed., Each and every one needs to be supported.and of the project to apply through the application portal
  • Information about all project stakeholders and specify one project contact.

  • 13-17 AprilApplications are reviewed and applicants with valid applications are invited for an interview. 

  • End of April and beginning of May– replies are coming

The application deadline is 29 March 2026. 

The working period runs from June to July. Staff begin the working period by preparing for the 17th of June and then work independently. to work on the project according to the work plan until preparations for the final party and presentation of the work take over.  

The total number of hours is 208, and the project is expected to be completed in 7 weeks during June and July.  

Please note that this refers only to salaries and not to other funding for the project. Projects are responsible for all incidental production costs themselves.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hlíf trade union.

An agreement on the project's arrangement will be made with the selected applicants. The supervisor of the Hafnarfjörður Work Club, the director of the Innovation Centre, and staff members of the Innovation Centre will form a selection committee that will report its findings by 17 April 2026..
