We are looking for a team member to join our dynamic team of teachers in the school's middle years. We are looking for a teacher who is ready to take on new projects, collaborate with colleagues, and lead a fun group of students.

Víðistaðaskóli is a comprehensive school with 510 pupils. The school's guiding principles are responsibility, respect and friendship. At Víðistaðaskóli, we celebrate diversity and place an emphasis on ensuring every pupil receives an appropriate education to develop their talents. Emphasis is placed on student well-being, diverse teaching methods and good academic achievement. The school is working to develop team teaching and the use of tablets in its operations. The school has an ambitious ethos based on school development and student democracy. Víðistaðaskóli is a healthy school and operates in the spirit of the Green Flag, with an emphasis on environmental education and outdoor learning. The school follows the SMT School Skills programme, which focuses on strengthening and promoting positive relationships between pupils and others within the school community. Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Teaching at secondary school level
  • Works to develop school operations in collaboration with management and colleagues.
  • Promotes the welfare of students in collaboration with parents and professionals.
  • Works in accordance with the school's policy
  • Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.

Educational and competency requirements:

  • Teaching licence (copy of licence to be attached to the application)
  • A solid understanding of the pedagogy of subject areas
  • Interest in working with children and young people
  • Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
  • Initiative and autonomy in work methods
  • Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
  • Punctuality and conscientiousness
  • Very good Icelandic skills, at a minimum C1 according to Self-assessment framework

The job share is 100% and the appointment is from 1 August 2026.

A clean criminal record is required upon employment.
