Applications are invited for summer positions as group leaders for various associations in Hafnarfjörður, in partnership with the Hafnarfjörður Work School. Please state in the comments which association the applicant is applying for.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • A team leader manages tasks and groups within the club, for example, when maintaining an area or running a play scheme.
  • To be a role model for young people
  • Guide students on working methods and procedures.
  • Working with constructive communication and creating a team spirit within the student group.
  • Submission of student timekeeping and performance assessments
  • Other duties as described in the job description

Competency requirements

  • An interest in working with young people and a willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
  • Communication skills and the ability to be a good role model for students
  • Knowledge of the work of a summer school or other experience of working with children or young people is an advantage.
  • Experience in gardening and related maintenance is an advantage.
  • A clean criminal record in accordance with the laws and regulations of the City of Hafnarfjörður.
  • Applicants must be 20 years of age.
  • Good Icelandic and English skills, B2 level. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

Further information about the job

  • The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hlíf trade union.
  • Group leaders at partner organisations of the Hafnarfjörður Summer School can work for a maximum of 231 hours over the summer.
  • The working week for staff in Hafnarfjörður is 36 hours.
