Staff are sought for the care of the Byggðasafnsins exhibition halls. The period of employment is from 1 June to 31 August. The positions are for weekdays, 11:00-17:00, and for weekends, working every other weekend, 11:00-17:00 on both days.
The main tasks are welcoming visitors, providing information and ensuring security, as well as giving guided tours and providing education about the exhibitions.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Reception, general guest services and telephone duty.
- Care of museum objects in exhibition spaces
- Responsible for ensuring exhibitions are open, the correct lighting is switched on, and for other matters relating to the exhibitions.
- Ensures showrooms are tidy and informs the manager if improvements are needed.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Experience in a similar role is an advantage.
- Communication and collaboration skills
- Positive attitude and service-mindedness
- Initiative and independent working methods
- Knowledge of Icelandic and English
- Knowledge of the region's cultural history is an advantage.

The applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
The remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
