The Nest is located at the Learning Centre by the Stream and is open to all young people aged 16-25. The Nest is a venue for open social activities, a structured programme, group work and various events that staff run with young people. The work is based on youth democracy and is preventative in nature.
The Hreiðrið has access to the facilities of the Innovation Centre, which is also in the building, including a tech workshop with a 3D printer, laser cutter and heat press, an art space and a recording studio. Skill and experience in these areas, or in other creative work, is therefore a great advantage.
This is a 25-40% position. The nursery is open from 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Thursday, and from 17:00 to 22:00 on Fridays. We are looking for staff for 17:00-22:00 shifts on all weekdays; the number of shifts is by arrangement.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Planning and implementation of a varied programme in collaboration with young people and other staff.
- Positive interaction and engagement with young people
- Create a positive atmosphere based on respect and democratic working practices.
- Promote the welfare and social development of young people
- Other tasks as per the job description
Education and competency requirements:
- Experience of working with young people is desirable.
- Experience of any kind of creative work is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Initiative, positivity and conscientiousness
- Interest in youth affairs
- Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
