Hraunvallaskóli is looking for a developmental therapist for Hraunborg, a department for children with autism.
UA 80-100% position for the 2026-2027 academic year is being discussed, and the appointment is from 1 August 2026.
We are building a new autism unit that focuses on individualised services, respect, and a positive environment for children with autism and their families. Our aim is to create a strong team of staff who work together to support each child's participation, development and well-being. The unit works from the children's strengths and focuses on diverse ways to enhance social skills, learning, and independence. We are looking for staff who share our vision and are passionate about taking part in shaping a new service where the children's welfare and human rights are at the forefront.
The applicant must have a positive attitude towards students with multiple needs and a belief in each individual's capacity for change and development, seeking to build on their strengths.

Key responsibilities and duties:
· A varied approach to training and supervision of students in collaboration with teachers, support staff and parents.
· Working on the development of school practice in collaboration with school services
· Promote the welfare of students in collaboration with parents and other professionals.
· Take part in the strategic work
· Other ad-hoc tasks
Educational and competency requirements:
· Licence to use the professional title of occupational therapist (licence to be attached to the application)
· Knowledge and experience of working with students with multiple needs
· A positive attitude towards students with multiple needs
· Initiative and autonomy in work methods
· Professional ambition and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
· Positivity, flexibility and good communication skills
· Good command of Icelandic. The proficiency benchmark C1 is taken as a reference. criteria of the European Language Portfolio.
A clean criminal record is required upon employment.
The terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and the University of Iceland.
