Engidalsskóli is seeking a form tutor for a 80-100% post at the middle school level, a fixed-term appointment for one year.
The Council is in office from 1 August 2026.
Engidalsskóli was founded in 1978. The school is small and cosy, attended by pupils in Years 1-7. Next winter, there will be around 200 pupils.
Emphasis is placed on a variety of teaching methods, teamwork, and the well-being of pupils and staff. The school is a Healthy School, flies the Green Flag and is in the process of implementing guided learning. The school operates according to 'Raising Achievement, Raising Expectations'. We place great emphasis on reading, and reading is the only homework students have. The school has an exceptionally pleasant playground offering a wide variety of opportunities for play and outdoor learning. A good working atmosphere and positive interactions are shared by everyone who works at the school. We are looking for people who want to help us build a strong school community.

Key responsibilities and duties:
- Teaching and supervision at secondary school level
- Works to develop school operations in collaboration with management and colleagues.
- Promotes the welfare of students in collaboration with parents and professionals.

Educational and competency requirements:
- Teaching licence (copy of licence to be attached to the application)
- A solid understanding of the pedagogy of early years subjects and reading instruction.
- Interest in working with children and young people
- Proficiency in a variety of teaching methods
- Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
- Good command of Icelandic, C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
A condition of employment is that the applicant has a clean criminal record.
