Hraunvallaskóli is seeking to appoint a form tutor to the school's Multi-Subject Department for the 2026-2027 academic year.
In the Multi-disciplinary Department are students who, on the basis of multiple needs, cannot fully utilise the learning opportunities available at their home school. The supervisor's office is located at Fléttuvelli on the grounds of Hraunvallar School and is staffed by four to five members of staff.
The applicant must have a positive attitude towards pupils with multiple needs and a belief in each individual's capacity for change and development, seeking to build on their strengths. The post-holder must also have good leadership skills, extensive knowledge of school practice, and an ambitious vision for the school.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- A varied approach to teaching and pastoral care in collaboration with teachers, support staff and parents.
- Working on the development of school practice in collaboration with school services
- Promote the welfare of students in collaboration with parents and other professionals.
- Take part in the strategic planning process
- Other duties as described in the job description
Educational and competency requirements:
- Teaching licence (copy of licence to be attached to the application)
- Experience of teaching in a primary school is desirable.
- Interest in working with children and young people
- Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
- Good command of Icelandic. The proficiency benchmark C1 is taken as a reference. criteria of the European Language Portfolio.
