„“We are going to invite businesses in Hafnarfjörður, in the town centre and others who want to take part in the Christmas Town, to come and have a conversation about the Christmas Town of Hafnarfjörður," says Sunna Magnúsdóttir, project manager for the Christmas Village at Hafnarfjörður City.
Marketing Agency of Hafnarfjörður On Friday, 18th September, a Christmas meeting will be held at the Hafnarfjörður Library in Firði between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be served and, after a short presentation by Sunna on the programme, layout and preparation for the Christmas Village, there will be an opportunity for general discussion and consultation.
The opening hours of the Christmas Village will be discussed, and how businesses can take advantage of the opportunity when tens of thousands of visitors visit Hafnarfjörður. „We want as many people as possible to join us at Christmas.“
Is this meeting then a kind of quality control? „Yes, to a certain extent,“ says Sunna. „We're coordinating things and making sure we're all in step and all in this together – dancing together. That's how the Christmas Town works best.“
But can the Christmas Village stretch out a bit beyond the town centre? „It's not the Christmas Village as such, but the whole of Hafnarfjörður is a Christmas town. The Christmas Village is at the town's centre, which then stretches up to Hellisgerði and out to the Innovation Centre by the Stream.“
What is the main opportunity for businesses in Hafnarfjörður at the Christmas Town? „We get close to a hundred thousand visitors. It's visibility and an opportunity, and it's important that we all pull together to make the experience for everyone who comes the very best it can be.“
Yes, Hafnarfjörður transforms into a veritable Christmas town in the run-up to Christmas, attracting a large number of visitors. The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður manages the Christmas Village, and so the Marketing Office is organising a meeting with the town and Sunna Magnúsdóttir, the project manager for the Christmas Village. Companies are encouraged to attend, whether they are members of the Marketing Agency or not.
