High participation in the 30th Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt
Over 3,000 scavenger hunt maps were collected this summer, and 253 solutions were submitted in the 30th Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt. There was great joy at the awards ceremony last week.
The scavenger hunt among the traditions of Hafnarfjörður residents
Over 3,000 scavenger hunt maps were collected this summer, and 253 solutions were submitted in the 30th Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt. Only three times before have more solutions been submitted.
The treasure hunt took participants to 27 locations, and most of those who submitted their solutions found all of them. It is estimated that there were at least 6,000 visits to the treasure hunt locations over the summer.
Participants came from far and wide. Residents of Hafnarfjörður were the most numerous, but residents of other municipalities also took part, as well as visitors from Norway and Australia.
Large crowd at the harvest festival
Nearly 200 people attended the Ratleiks harvest festival at Ásvellir on 14 October. The summer was reviewed and photos were shown, including some from participants.
Three prizes were awarded in each category. Steinarr Steinarrsson won first prize in the masters category, Gunnhildur Ásta Traustadóttir in the walkers category, and Elísabet Anna Jóhannsdóttir in the light-footed category.
The puzzle kings found all 27 places, the hikers at least 18 and the light-footed at least nine.
Good support for the Rat Race
Nineteen companies contributed a total of 65 prize draws, and children among the participants also received a treat.
The health-conscious town of Hafnarfjörður has been one of these staunch supporters since 2019, as the scavenger hunt is a great way to encourage physical activity and a fun time for families and friends.
Hafnarfjörður thanks Guðni Gíslason and Ómar Smári Ármannsson for their excellent work on this enjoyable tradition.
