The Beauty Game 2025 – Sun, Barbara and Gilded Gardens
Businesses and individuals were yesterday recognised for the tidiness of their properties. The 2025 Tidy-Up competition took place in Hellisgerði, as usual.
Yes, they make our town even better.
Representatives of businesses and private households celebrated together yesterday, Thursday, in Hellisgerði, as the harvest of the 2025 Beauty Contest was celebrated.
Sól Restaurant, Fléttuvellir 15, Furuvellir 20, Heiðvangur 5, Áshamar 12-26 and 50, Borgarhella 1, 3 and 5, and the café-bar Barbara all received an award. The atmosphere was wonderful and warm, although there were some autumnal touches to be seen. People sheltered from the cold under the stage canopy in this wonderful art park of ours in Hafnarfjörður.
Guðbjörg Oddný Jónasdóttir, chair of the Environment and Operations Committee, presented the awards. She said at the ceremony that Snyrtileikinn is a platform where the energy of residents, businesses and organisations shines through.
„It is pleasing to see how many nominations were received this year and how diverse the contributions are; beautiful gardens and streetscapes, quality new construction, tidy industrial estates and entrepreneurial work that brings green values into daily life,“ she said before presenting each with their certificate of recognition. Beauty is found throughout Hafnarfjörður.
„This is a joint endeavour for all of us — and as we are fond of saying: Many small things make one big thing.“
