The nursery children are jumping for joy with the Sports Elf.
„Who among you knows what healthy snacks are?“ asked the Sports Elf when he met the children at the Vesturkot nursery school yesterday, on Thursday morning. „Apples, bananas, oranges,“ he listed. The Sports Elf is now promoting health in Hafnarfjörður.
Fun and energy at their peak with the Sports Elf!
„Who amongst you knows what healthy snacks are?“ asked the Sports Elf when he visited the children at the Vesturkot nursery school yesterday, on Thursday morning. „Apples, bananas, oranges,“ he listed. The children jumped for joy when the Sports Elf paid a visit and shook things up for the fun and activities.
The Sports Elf from Latabær is visiting the town's nursery schools these days, bringing each group a card that encourages physical activity — all to boost the spirit of Healthy Town Hafnarfjörður. Each child, one after another, drew a card from the elf's deck and then danced to the movement suggested by the card.

The nurseries of the City of Hafnarfjörður are now working towards becoming health-promoting. The sports elf's visit is part of the health-promoting community initiative, a nationwide public health approach by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer.
A healthy community is a holistic approach that the office is working on in partnership and consultation with local authorities, public bodies, voluntary organisations and others.
The main aim of the Health Promoting Community is to support communities in creating an environment and conditions that promote healthy lifestyles, health and well-being for all residents.
