Music Weekend at Hafnarborg and Bæjarbíó

Rebekka Blöndal Trio Rebekka will perform at the first Afternoon Concerts of the autumn at Hafnarborg today, Friday 18th September, at 6 p.m. Joining Rebekka are Andrés Þór on guitar and Þorgrímur Jónsson on double bass. Rebekka's older and newer songs will be performed, including tracks from her recently released album., Maybe. The concert lasts for about an hour and admission is free.

That same evening, the music of Rúnar Júlíusson will take centre stage at the concert in the Bæjarbíó. Rúnar Júl – 80+ years old. Rúnar's sons take to the stage with special guests to perform the songs that have been a part of the nation's life for decades. The concert starts at 8 pm.

On Saturday evening, they turn Bjartmar Guðlaugsson and the Bearmen Finally back at Bæjarbíó. The concert starts at 8 pm and there are only a few seats left.

Scientific cocoa for curious kids

Dr Erna Magnúsdóttir, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Iceland, will be the guest. Scientific cocoa at Hafnarfjörður Library Saturday, 19th September at 1 p.m.

Science Cocoa is for curious children who want to meet scientists, learn about their research and ask questions about science and careers in science. Cocoa and doughnuts will be served while stocks last. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Aurora Borealis and The Last Giants

The publication of the book Aurora Borealis: Frosty Fjalar will be celebrated at Hafnarborg on Saturday 19 September from 3–5 pm. The book is published in connection with the eponymous exhibition and contains a selection of works by Frost Fjalarr, along with photographs and texts that shed light on his art and career. Guests will also have the opportunity to view the exhibition, and the book will be on sale at a special introductory price. Admission is free.

The exhibition of Júlíus Hafstein, The last giants, is also on display in the Little Gallery all weekend. There, Júlíus shows, among other things, a painting of the European bison, and his works deal with nature, perseverance and victory over adversity.

Happy Sunday Coffee and Knitting

The weekend ends with a cosy evening. Happy Knitting Cafe at Ægi 220 Sunday 20th September, 1pm–4pm. There will be coffee on the go, pastries on the tables, and guests are encouraged to bring their knitting.

The yarn shop Edda will be holding a pop-up market on site. Both experienced knitters and beginners are very welcome.
