Partners and projects that further enrich and deepen the artistic life of the City of Hafnarfjörður.

Grants from the Culture and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður for projects and events were awarded at a ceremony in the Bæjarbíó on the last day of winter, alongside the appointment of the Artist in Residence. On this occasion, 14 projects received grants. Collaboration agreements are also in place for the Heart of Hafnarfjörður, the Song Festival at Hafnarborg, the Viking Festival in Víðistaðatún, the HEIMA festival, and for the concert activities of the Hafnarfjörður Band.

Cultural grants are awarded twice a year to individuals and projects that are likely to further enrich and deepen the town's arts scene. The allocation of grants by the City of Hafnarfjörður is based on an assessment of applications. Cultural events, artists, associations or institutions applying for a grant must be connected to Hafnarfjörður in some way. Examples of this include permanent residency, an event/project taking place in Hafnarfjörður, and/or a project involving the promotion of Hafnarfjörður's cultural activities.

The total amount of grants in this allocation is 2.9 million. In total, 11 million will be allocated in the form of cultural grants in 2021.

The presentation of the cultural grants took place in an unconventional manner, as it was necessary to observe social distancing measures at all times. The recipients were presented with a certificate of recognition, a rose and a personal gift on arrival at the Bæjarbíó, and after the ceremony, a group photo was taken across the half-empty auditorium, as only a few guests were present.

Applications for the second allocation of 2021 will be invited in August.

Hafnarfjörður warmly congratulates all the grant recipients!
