The tight-knit community of Hellisgerði at the festival of the elves
Páll Óskar attended the Elf Festival in Hellisgerði, along with at least another two thousand guests. Yes, the garden was full of life and elves at this gorgeous family festival.
Elf Festival in Hellisgerði 2026
A truly magical atmosphere was in Hellisgerði on Sunday when the elven festival was held in glorious weather. The park filled with people, and it is estimated that over a thousand guests made their way to Hellisgerði at the height of the event.
Elves, music, circus and games took over the garden from 1 pm to 4 pm. The Sports Elf and Solla set the tone, Þorri and Þura joined in, and Benedikt the farm elf, of course, made an appearance. Dance elves from the Hafnarfjörður School of Choreography were roaming about, and all over the garden there was entertainment for the children; a circus workshop by Cirque Ananas, Húlladúllan, face painting, soap bubbles, candy floss and outdoor games.
Páll Óskar stepped up to the mic
One of the highlights of the day was when Páll Óskar took to the stage at the Álfahátíðin. The atmosphere was electric, and young and old alike joined in enthusiastically. By then, Hellisgerði was packed, and guests were spread out all over the grounds.
Elves and hidden folk have long been an integral part of Hafnarfjörður's history and image, and Hellisgerði holds a special place, as it is believed to be densely populated with elves. This year's festival was the first since Helliskaffi opened in Oddrúnarbær, in the heart of Hellisgerði.
With the arrival of Helliskaffi, new life has been breathed into Hellisgerði. The aim is for the park to become an even more vibrant meeting place for the people of Hafnarfjörður.
Thanks for a great day
A packed garden, a varied programme and joy everywhere you looked. The City of Hafnarfjörður thanks everyone who came, entertained, took part and contributed to making the Álfa Festival in Hellisgerði a magical day in Hafnarfjörður.
See you among the elves!
