The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður is seeking to hire an occupational therapist to work at a short-term residential facility for disabled young people, located in the Setbergshverfi district. It is desirable that the successful candidate can start work on 1 September.

The job share is 80-90% and the work is in shifts. Working hours include morning, evening and weekend shifts. The work is carried out in accordance with the Servant-Leadership philosophy.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Implements the role and objectives of the post
  • Responsible for planning, coordination, budgeting, reporting, information dissemination, advice, education and communication with other organisations.
  • To promote the effectiveness, welfare and well-being of service users, seeking to increase the quality of life and independence of disabled people and to promote their empowerment.
  • Implement and monitor service plans as well as the work plan.
  • Other duties as described in the job description.

Educational and competency requirements:

  • Occupational therapist education and professional licence as an occupational therapist.
  • Experience of organising professional work in the field of occupational therapy
  • Collaboration and organisational skills
  • Initiative, conscientiousness, interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and a strong service-mindedness
  • Physical ability to carry out tasks in the workplace
  • Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement, A2 language standard ETM Self-Assessment Framework (coe.int)
