The Department of Environment and Planning is seeking to appoint a Master Carpenter to the Hafnarfjörður Municipal Service Centre. The Service Centre is responsible for the maintenance of the town's grounds and for various services and projects for the town, its institutions, and residents. The Service Centre has 20.50 full-time equivalent posts. This is a 100% position.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Operations, inspection, maintenance and repair of play equipment in the town's playgrounds.
- Participation in the general operation of a joinery workshop, ensuring all equipment is in good working order and that health and safety is prioritised.
- Responsible for the management, supervision, maintenance and repair of timberwork in open spaces, such as fences, bench outsides, footbridges, steps, platforms, play equipment, etc.
- Various new builds on open spaces, on open playgrounds and on institutional grounds.
- Conducts price surveys and seeks quotations for materials from suppliers for various projects under their supervision.

Educational and competency requirements:
- Master's degree in carpentry
- General and good experience in carpentry or experience relevant to the job.
- Good, general computer skills
- Collaboration and communication skills
- Service-mindedness and positivity
- Initiative, independence and organisational skills
- Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement.
Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the relevant trade union.
