Hafnarfjörður urges restraint on price increases

News

The City of Hafnarfjörður has appealed to its suppliers and partners to exercise restraint in the pricing of goods and services in the coming quarters.

Let's stick with the increases

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has appealed to its suppliers and partners to exercise restraint in the pricing of goods and services in the coming months. The town has sent them all a letter urging a joint effort on price stability. It introduces the emphasis that increases in the council's charges will not exceed 2.51%.

The letter refers to discussions in recent months about the importance of working together to achieve greater price stability and preserve the terms of employment contracts. The government, local authorities, businesses and the parties to the labour market have been urged to exercise restraint in price and tariff increases and to aim for rises not to exceed 2.5%. The town is aiming for this.

Together we succeed

Yes, the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður intends to do its part and, when setting its tariffs, will ensure that any increases do not exceed these limits. At the same time, the municipality challenges its suppliers and partners to show comparable restraint.

„While each party must of course make decisions based on its own operational considerations, we believe that a joint effort could make a significant difference for price stability, the welfare of households and businesses, and the public finances,“ the letter states.

The town also thanks them for the good and reliable cooperation and expresses the hope that suppliers and partners will be able to support this common goal.

Now is the time to stand together and ensure stability.
