Laddi extends life – even in the joke town of Hafnarfjörður

Laddi is well known to most of the nation, not least for his creation of the multitude of characters with which many are familiar. Eiríkur Fjalar, Saxi the Doctor, Skúli the Electrician, Magnús the Farmer, Elsa Lund and Marteinn Mosdal are among these characters, and many would argue that some of them were born in the 'joke town' of Hafnarfjörður, just like Laddi himself. Laddi has released albums, acted in films and taken part as a scriptwriter and/or actor in New Year's Eve specials and numerous programmes that have warmed the hearts and delighted the nation for decades. Laddi took part in the founding of Spaugstofan in 1985 and worked with the group for its first few years. His major achievements include Heilsubælið, Stella í orlofi, Stella í framboði, Löggulíf, Magnús, Regína, Íslenski draumurinn, Amma Hófí, and the bittersweet comedies My Funeral and My Wedding, in which his hometown of Hafnarfjörður plays a key role. Laddi has also voiced a great number of films and cartoons, and notably managed to voice all the Smurfs films single-handedly.

The album „Let's Pretend There's No C“, made with Gísli Rúnar Jónsson, is probably their most famous. In the 1980s, Halli and Laddi formed the HLH Party along with Björgvin Halldórsson. Laddi began his musical career as a drummer in the band Föxum and has written numerous songs during his career, many of which have become very popular, for example, Sandalar, Austurstræti and Búkolla. A light-hearted ceremony and a popular show with Eyþór Ingi

Laddi's closest family and friends were present for the unveiling of the heart stone at a light-hearted ceremony with a sweet children's song at Bæjarbíó, just before the national treasure Laddi took to the stage at the cinema with his good friend Eyþór Ingi. These days, a show is running at the Bæjarbíó which is named after the two fellows. and is partly based on Ladda's 75th birthday show. This new show is a unique magical blend of theatre and stand-up comedy, covering a wide range of topics, with good friends such as Elsa Lund, Old Mófreð, Eirík Fjalar, Saxa and Magnús Bónda dropping by for a visit. Originally, there were only supposed to be four shows, but the reaction was such that more were quickly added.
