Strangers will become familiar
Uppskera is a collaboration between the Refugee Support Department of the City of Hafnarfjörður and GETU – a charity that pairs families from Hafnarfjörður with refugee families residing in the town. The families are allocated two special, side-by-side plots of land in the Hafnarfjörður family gardens, free of charge. Through the project, individuals and families have the opportunity to get to know a new group of people with diverse knowledge and experience, can exchange tips and help each other water the gardens, thereby growing both vegetables and connections between different cultures. The project further promotes inclusion and positive multiculturalism, where friendships are formed and strangers become acquaintances.
