The Christmas village in Hafnarfjörður opened last weekend when the lights were switched on at the Cuxhaven Christmas tree in its new location in the Christmas town! The Christmas village is bustling with life and fun in the run-up to Christmas, and the beautifully decorated Christmas houses of Hafnarfjörður have long been nationally renowned for a variety of exciting gifts, gourmet treats, handicrafts and design. It's the perfect place to find the ideal Christmas present whilst enjoying delicious food and drink to warm you from the inside out. Father Christmas visits at weekends, and Grýla will also be out and about in town on Sundays. Strandgata becomes a pedestrianised street while the Christmas Village is open.

Friday, 22 November
- 6 p.m. Afternoon Tones in Hafnarborg – Andrés Thor Nordic Trio
- At 7:20 p.m. Christmas Town and Fjord's Fireworks Display. Musical performances, product launches, a fireworks display, a Christmas pop-up market and Bylgjan live – in front of Fjörður to celebrate Fjörður's 30th anniversary, open until 9 p.m.
- Guests will be offered TÖST in the experience house at Thorsplan.
Saturday, 23 November
- 13:00 – 18:00 Bird carving in the experience house. Rúnar Ástvaldsson at Bird.is Must hand-carve and sell Icelandic birds.
- At 2 p.m. Meet me in Hellisgerði – the author will be reading from their book, and mulled wine and gingerbread will be served.
Sunday, 24 November
- 13-18 VIGT at the Experience House. The Grindavík sisters from VIGT are bringing their products.
- 1 pm Hafnarfjörður Icehouse Christmas Market in Ægi 220
- 3 pm The Choir sings Christmas carols
- 16:00-18:00: Tóm Hamingja! Actors and the director will be in the greenhouse, where they will be providing information about the show. Tóm Hamingja is a brand-new feel-good bomb from the Gaflar Theatre.

Regular events throughout Christmas in Hafnarfjörður
Café in Hellisgerði, Hjartasvell and funfair
The Christmas Village at Thorsplan in Hafnarfjörður will be open every weekend from 15 November; Fridays from 17:00 to 20:00, Saturdays and Sundays from 13:00 to 18:00 until Christmas, and until 21:00 on Christmas Eve. The café in Hellisgerði will be open during the Christmas Village's opening hours, and until 20:00 on those evenings. Special attention is drawn to the fact that Heart swelling The funfair at the Venus House, 11 Strandgata, is open every weekend until Christmas.
Christmas Heart of Hafnarfjörður
Thursdays – Saturdays from 5 pm - 10 pm. The Christmas Heart of Hafnarfjörður in an Advent festival tent behind the Bæjarbíó. Ideal for mums and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and groups of friends to come along and enjoy a bite to eat and a festive drink. Tilverunnar's Christmas Lobster Soup will be available to buy from 5 pm to 8 pm on all opening days.
City Centre Scavenger Hunt
Take part in a Christmas scavenger hunt in the Christmas Village and Find the thirteen lads, Grýla, Leppalúði and the Yule Cat! The game is about finding the thirteen figures on lampposts in the town centre. And how do you play the game? Well, next to each post is a plaque with the name of the Yule Lads and a QR code. You scan the QR code to find the correct letter to write down and collect. The letters then form a short sentence which must be submitted online. A cheat sheet is available from the Library, the Folk Museum, Hafnarborg and the greenhouses at Thorsplan, or can be downloaded. here. You can take part until 22nd December. It's the perfect place to search for the ideal Christmas present whilst enjoying delicious treats to warm you from the inside out. The Christmas elves visit on Saturdays, and Grýla will be roaming the town on Sundays. Strandgata, from Lækjargata to Linnetstíg, is closed to traffic while the Christmas Village is open. This is to spread pedestrian traffic around the city centre and ensure the safety of our visitors.
