The student council's tasks are varied.
The responsibilities of the student council at each school are varied. The student representatives on the council prepare its work plan, act as advocates for the student body, organise events within the school, and encourage other students to take an active part in the school's social life. Student council representatives need to be able to listen to ideas from their fellow students, be creative, and help ensure that all students feel a part of the whole.

The student programme consists of motivational talks, team-building activities, entertainment and socialising.
The student council training programme was varied and great fun.
The programme began with an icebreaker, and then Ingveldur Gröndal from Kvan was invited to speak about communication and perseverance. Þórunn Þórarinsdóttir spoke about the role of student unions, participation and democracy. Sigmar Ingi Sigurgeirsson led a team-building and icebreaker session with excellent assistance. Margrét Gauja Magnúsdóttir formally concluded the programme by encouraging them with her talk – 'How do we change this?'. A brainstorming session on the student council's programme for the 2022-2023 school year yielded a number of ideas, including a phone-free ball, a youth centre olympics, a Reif and a Sleep-Over.
