The Erasmus+ project ”Empowering Lives"

News

The international Erasmus+ project, “Empowering Lives", brings together three countries: Lithuania, Iceland and Belgium. Each country has its own strengths and experience to offer. The most important aspect of the project is that the focus is placed on, and the sole focus is on, the personality and strengths of each individual, not on their limitations.

Creating opportunities for disabled people

Creating opportunities for disabled people with long-term support needs to participate in society, thereby having the same rights as other citizens, should be a fundamental principle in all countries of the world, and its validity should be beyond all doubt.

„Empowering Lives“ combines the strengths and experience of three countries

The international Erasmus+ project, “Empowering Lives", brings together three countries: Lithuania, Iceland and Belgium. The project starts this autumn and will run for the next two years. Each country has its own strengths and experience to offer, which will benefit all participants in the project. The most important thing is that in these countries, as in others, the emphasis is placed on the personality and strengths of each individual, and not on their limitations.

Sharing effective work and support

The aim of the project is to share successful practices and support for disabled people with long-term support needs, as well as for those facing mental health challenges. The project also aims to increase their participation in society in collaboration with other countries, and to introduce and learn about various methods and approaches. Iceland and Belgium are the project partners at the forefront of non-verbal communication methods, while a day centre for disabled people in Jonava, Lithuania, also places a strong and successful emphasis on cooperation and teamwork.
