On International Jazz Day, Thursday 30 April at 6 pm, the quartet of the Spanish saxophonist Albert Cirera appear at the next Afternoon Tones in Hafnarborg.

Albert Cirera has been active on the European improvised music scene in recent years, taking part in numerous recordings and performing at festivals and concerts in Europe and beyond. He has lived and worked in cities such as Barcelona, Lisbon and Copenhagen, and has worked with a diverse group of musicians from various backgrounds.

The programme will feature jazz standards alongside compositions by Cirera, with room for improvisation and free interaction between the musicians. Alongside Albert, who plays the tenor saxophone, they will play. Andrés Þór on guitar, Snorri Skúlason on double bass and Scott McLemore on drums.

The concert lasts for about an hour and is free of charge.

Afternoon Tones at Hafnarborg are supported by the City of Hafnarfjörður and the FÍH Cultural Fund.
