The 'Role-playing in Hafnarfjörður' project recently received an Erasmus+ grant to hold role-playing evenings for young people aged 13-15. The project is a collaboration between NÚ – Forward-Looking Education and the youth centres of the City of Hafnarfjörður. The aim of the project is to give young people in Hafnarfjörður the opportunity to get to know role-playing games and, in an interesting and fun way, to put themselves in the shoes of others.

What are role-playing games?
A role-playing game is a type of game where participants take on the role of another character. The game then usually involves solving various tasks. The game is played with paper and pencils, although some also use dice and special game boards. At these gaming evenings, young people in Hafnarfjörður will play under the guidance of a game master. Arnar Hólm Einarsson, the e-sports coordinator at NÚ, is a great fan of role-playing games and wanted to find a way to increase opportunities for young people to get to know the fun, adventurous world of role-playing games. In collaboration between NÚ and the City of Hafnarfjörður, an application for an Erasmus+ grant was submitted, and the grant makes it possible to organise role-playing evenings. Four such evenings have been organised before Christmas, where young people can take part free of charge. 25 places are available each evening, with five individuals playing together at each table alongside a game master.
The role-playing evenings will take place at the NÚ premises at Reykjavikurvegur 50 from 18:00 to 21:00, with the first meeting on Friday, 30th September! Monthly meetings are planned for the rest of the year. The dates are:
- 30 September
- 24th October
- 25 November
- 12th December
All young people in Hafnarfjörður can register while places are available.
Registration takes place here.
