Increased collaboration with Homes and Schools formalised on Anti-Bullying Day
Hafnarfjörður municipality and Home and School – National Parents' Association signed a partnership agreement today, which is intended to formalise a specific collaboration and to promote and further strengthen the strong work on parenting, prevention and education in the municipality, among other things through targeted education and advice from the specialists at Home-School Partnership.

Hafnarfjörður municipality and Home and School – National Parents' Association Today, they signed a partnership agreement intended to formalise a specific collaboration and to promote and further strengthen the strong parental, preventative and educational work in the municipality, among other things through targeted education and advice from specialists from the Home-School partnership. Pupils in all Year 6 classes in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools will receive the so-called SAFT education, entitled 'Let's be smart but SAFT – Society, Family and Technology' – a awareness campaign about the safe use of technology by children and teenagers in Iceland. In addition, organised SAFT information sessions (online meetings) will be held for parents of children and young people in Hafnarfjörður, where the role of parents and preventative measures in online matters will be covered. The sessions will take place between 15 January and 15 April 2023.

Árný Steindóra Steindórsdóttir, Deputy Director of the Education and Public Health Department for the City of Hafnarfjörður, and Þorvar Hafsteinsson, Chairman of Heimili og skóla – the National Parents' Association, will formalise a partnership over the coming weeks and months.
Easy access to a representative from Home and School
The new agreement also means that nurseries, primary schools and parents' associations in Hafnarfjörður will be assigned a direct contact from Heimili og skóli, ensuring efficient service, targeted follow-up and the other important support that Heimili og skóli provides. In addition, all these parties will gain access to all educational materials and other resources published by Heimili og skóli and SAFT. The agreement is initially for one year, with the option to extend.
A day dedicated to the fight against bullying
Every year, 8th November is dedicated to the fight against bullying in schools. On this day, positive relationships are prioritised, and the school community is encouraged to unite against bullying. For several years, primary schools in Hafnarfjörður have focused on friendship for a whole week around the day. A common feature of the primary schools' friendship week is that the schools dedicate this week to friendship and empathy, and the school activities are tailored to projects that call for cooperation and collaboration between all age groups, for example, solving puzzles and other fun activities.
